Julie Monro-Allison

Julie Monro-Allison is a visual artist and creative researcher living on Ngunnawal and Ngambri country (ACT). Her work investigates living organisms and the spaces in which they exist. Julie works with string, cane, paper and fabric to make sculptural forms; with graphite pencil, ink and collage to make drawings; and with experimental methods such as weaving with living plants and urban infrastructure. Her practice attends to the dynamic encounters and complex negotiations within these biological systems and environmental histories, and to the unfolding of life and its forms. Julie has exhibited in regional and artist run galleries around Australia, most recently at the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery and Tanks Arts Centre in Far North Queensland. In 2021 she was awarded a PhD in Visual Arts from the Australian National University.
