Nadia Vitlin

Nadia Vitlin is an artist based in Sydney, Australia, who has a background in geospatial and biological sciences. Her art brings together the study of nature, humanity, emotions, and sociological phenomena through the lens of the scientist via the olfactory exploration of perfume and fragrance in art, the freeform expression of poured paint, and the tactile form of clay.

Her scented-painting style focuses on imbuing paint and texture medium with raw perfume ingredients in order to create a multi-sensory artwork that creates an encompassing experience for the audience. The combination of both colour and scent is used as a conductive mechanism to draw the viewer into the world inside the painting.

Her olfactive art stems from having always been fascinated by scent. From a young age, she was fixated on smells and the plethora of emotions they evoke in humans. She started her perfume journey in 2013 with a class on the history of perfume, and by 2023 was exhibiting scented paintings in Asia.

She creates perfumed artworks, fine fragrances to wear, ambient scents for physical spaces, and custom incense. Constantly experimenting, her scents incorporate new and exciting ingredients that she acquires from sources that are unavailable to the mass market. Her passion for scent lies in the transportative capacity to take people to other places in mind and heart. Strictly bespoke-only, she works with individuals to create olfactory works of art.

She is a board member for the Asia Perfume Foundation and runs bespoke olfactory art house Vitsley.
