Ethics Alliance Event - The end of work? (Brisbane)
With up to five generations working together, each with different values and expectations about the role of work in their lives, navigating employment arrangements and conditions is becoming increasingly complex.
With ever-growing pressure under the guise of productivity, lean or agile working, people are becoming less connected, and more stressed out. Does a 40 hour work week now have a 60 hour digital footprint? Do flexible work hours lead to job insecurity? Is 9-5 worth protecting? How can we design teams and organisations better?
Drawing on employment law, the role of human resources and the unions, we’ll explore the ethical issues at play when determining who works, from where, and when.
Speaker
Denise O’Reilly - Principal Lawyer, O’Reilly Workplace Law
Denise has 17 years’ experience advising businesses about workplace issues – ranging from large corporates during her time with Herbert Smith Freehills, to smaller-sized firms and start-ups. This experience has helped her and her team hone their communication skills irrespective of whether they are speaking with big or small organisations. She enjoys being able to offer the premium opportunities and solutions often only utilised by larger corporates with bigger resources, across the board.
Natasha Hawker – Director, Employee Matters
Natasha has worked in Human Resources for over for 25 years, working both nationally and internationally, including twelve years at global management consulting firm Accenture. She is routinely featured in the Sydney Morning Herald, West Australian, ABC Radio, The Huffington Post and a number of business-related blogs. She has been nominated for the Telstra Businesswomen of the Year and Small Business of the Year, and has personally hired and managed over 15,000 employees.
Natasha has a postgraduate degree in Employee Relations from UTS and is a certified Mental Health First Aider, as are most of her team. Through her organisation, Employee Matters, Natasha helps business owners hire aligned talent, build high performing teams and get the best out of their people.
