Dr Anne Quain

Dr Anne Quain is a veterinarian with additional qualifications in animal welfare science, ethics and law. Anne is interested in all aspects of small animal health, particularly veterinary general practice and welfare. She also has a BA in arts, majoring in philosophy.

Her PhD research explored the types of ethically challenging situations encountered by veterinary team members, and evaluated ’ethics rounds’, a form of clinical ethics support designed to foster a sense of moral community among veterinary team members. She developed an ethics rounds facilitator training manual and is planning to train the first cohort of ethics rounds facilitators. This will ensure that more veterinary team members around Australia will have access to ethics rounds. Anne believes that ethics must be practical, accessible, engaging and inclusive.
