Is pleasure key to a fulfilling life?
Whether or not we admit it, chasing pleasure is something many of us do. But is it key to living well? Hedonism says pleasure is key to a happy life.
We enjoyed a glass of the good stuff while the ever-engaging criminologist Michael Salter challenged us with: “Would you rather be a happy oyster, or a struggling artist your whole life?” and “Is it ever ethical to hurt people in order to change their behaviour?”
Speakers
Michael Salter
is a criminologist whose research specialises in gendered violence, sexual assault, and complex trauma. His book Crime, Justice and Social Media explores online harassment and social media justice campaigns. Michael sits on the Board of Directors of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation and is a senior lecturer in criminology at Western Sydney University.
