Why does representation matter?
The curatorial minds behind Elle, Q&A, and the MCA let us peek behind the curtain. What do they think about diversity, platforms, and the ethics of representation?
What role does art play in shaping – or reflecting – our norms and values? As part of Vivid Ideas, we spoke about the responsibility of public organisations to be diverse. This way, minority voices aren’t a) a surprise or b) ignored. As for private organisations, naivety isn’t a virtue. If you can’t make a business pitch for diversity, wait until it presents itself.
